When an ice cube of 54.0 g is exposed to room temperature (23C) it first melts at 0C and the water formed then slowly warms up until it reaches room temperature. a) Calculate the enthalpy and entropy changes of the system during this process. b) Calculate the entropy change of the environment, and the total entropy change of this spontaneous process. Use: fusH0(H2O) = 6.01 kJ/mol, Cp,m(H2O(l)) = 75 J/molK and M(H2O) = 18.0 g/mol.
