A credit report is a statement that has information about your credit activity and current credit situation such as loan paying history and the status of your credit accounts (source). By law, you can get a free credit report each year from the three credit reporting agencies (CRAs). These agencies include Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion (source). In this assignment, you will request your own credit report and evaluate it for accuracy and errors. Step 1: Browse examples of credit reports here so you can get an idea of what information will be included on your credit report. Note: your credit report does not include your credit score Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Step 2: Decide which agency you would like to request a report from (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). Although all of the reports will have similar information, I recommend only choosing one agency for this activity which will leave you with the ability to get 2 additional free credit reports this year from other agencies if you need them in real life. Step 3: Read these instructions to request your annual credit report. If you request a report online, you should have instant access to the report. Step 4: Review the credit report closely for accuracy and complete the credit report review checklist here. Use the download button (down arrow in top right corner) and choose to download with changes. Then upload your completed checklist by attaching it to the Google Classroom assignment and hit Turn In.
