Imagine that you work for the ACLU and you have been assigned to interview a manager at Facebook, about Facebooks privacy policies. During your interview, the manager states that he believes $(1)$ he and his company are acting ethically and $(2)$ the public misunderstands the situation. He then makes the following statements to defend his actions and those of his company. Statement $-$ We live in a democratic and capitalistic society. Our fundamental freedoms include the freedom to pursue happiness, just like the Declaration of Independence says, and that often means pursuing money. No one has the right to take that freedomlaway from me$.$ I$\text{'}$m interviewed by news organizations like The New York Times all the time, and I$\text{'}$m completely comfortable explaining Facebook's policies to them and to their readers. I understand that some people who use Facebook would like more privacy, but my company makes money by selling users' information. If the ability to profit from personal information were taken away, how would the company and all our stakeholders be compensated for the service we provide?
