In 2014 Mrs. Florence Vassallo underwent breast implant surgery. She received silicone gel breast implants that were manufactured by Baxter Healthcare. In 2019 Florence underwent a routine mammogram that revealed that her breast implants might have ruptured. The implants were removed surgically in January 2020. The surgeon noted that Florence suffered severe, permanent scarring on her pectoral muscles. Florence sued Baxter for strict product liability for failure to warn. Evidence shows that in 2015 Baxter had received 25 complaints of ruptured implants. Baxter did furnish warnings to physicians concerning the implants, but the warning did not address the issue of gel bleed.
