In a study evaluating the effect of Asbestos exposure on the cancer of the thyroid gland 1967 people with thyroid cancer and 3866 people without thyroid cancer were selected. Out of those who had thyroid cancer 535 reported recent or past exposure to asbestos where as among those who did not have thyroid cancer 54 were exposed to asbestos either recently or in the past.
