In chapter 2 being an effective leader means being confident and self- assured even in the face of uncertainty. This is something I will bring into my future as a leader. However, I believe these characteristics will develop with experience and time. Through self-reflection, I know that I do not like to deal with conflict. As a leader it is inevitable. There are two principal source of conflict that I will keep in mind. One is when the different ways in which different people can and do understand what educational organizations are and how they best led and managed. The other is in the pervasive disagreement among people in our society about nature of education itself and what the goals of schooling should be (Owens & Valesky, 2015). Sharpening my conflict resolution skills will be a must as I step into an administrative role. I will be able to use all of this knowledge and apply it to my signature project. For my project I am focusing on increasing reading achievement schoolwide. Using the Adler's methods of instruction through coaching could help increase reading achievement.
