For a special case of turbulent flow conditions, a similar approach can be made using the Blasius equation to get the following expression for the pressure drop through a smooth, horizontal pipe of constant diameter: P=0.241D4.750.750.25LQ1.75 On the pressure drop vs flow rate figure below, draw the pressure drop profiles for both laminar (using the Hagen-Poiseuille equation) and turbulent (using the equation given above) flow of water at 5C through a smooth pipe (internal diameter =1cm ) that is 15m long
