In my most recent professional interactions, I utilized verbal communication via video calls. Given that my organization operates as a global, decentralized company, video calls have become a cornerstone of our communication strategy. I find this communication style to be the most effective for several reasons. Firstly, video calls allow for a more personal connection compared to emails or phone calls, enabling us to pick up on non-verbal cues and build rapport with colleagues across different geographical locations. This is crucial in fostering a sense of unity and understanding within our diverse team. Secondly, because our organization employs an all-channel communication approach, where information is disseminated through various mediums, video calls, helps to ensure that all team members, regardless of their preferred communication channels, are included in important discussions and decision-making processes (Guo et al., 2023). Regarding effectiveness, I believe the use of video calls was as effective as it could be given our remote-first approach.
