In my opinion and my perspective from working in law enforcement I believe decisions should be based on both intuition, experience and on data based information. An example of this being a crime map developed to determine where crime is most likely to occur in a specific area compiled from data that the officers intake weekly through incidents and crimes that are reported throughout a period of time and with this data we can make decisions to deploy officers to these specific areas of a higher potential of crime but we can also use our own intuition and experience to dictate whether the data from the crime map is completely accurate by basing our own experience of known crime areas and where the most criminal activity has been from calls for service. We can predict things with the utilization of data but it can also have inaccuracies, data complied with our experience we can make the most efficient decision to employ assets and officers to prevent further crimes from happening by analyzing and weighing all factors presented
