Hello Class,

SWOT is a useful tool that can help companies give a good overview of where their current strategy helps or hurts the overall goal. Some of the strengths of SWOT are identifying what the company is good at and what areas could we capitalize on based on what resources, assets, or partnerships the company has. A weakness of SWOT could be either bias towards the company where issues or concerns are not properly identified or $($how the reading suggested$)$ bench trending and benchmarking are not properly analyzed. If a company cannot foresee future problems or the strengths of the competitors, then it will be difficult to solve, adapt, or progress as a company. For the best practices, I will keep the competitors in mind, if one of the objectives of SWOT is to improve then a company must take a step back and see how their competition is beating them. This step could be the way our product gets seen through a different lens and determine why consumers are choosing their products over ours. One pitfall to avoid will be providing information that is too vague or general, a SWOT should be clear on what is being acknowledged. The way I will avoid this is by providing in$-$depth details and sources to provide a better understanding of the analysis.
