In the 1970s, a law firm in Phoenix, Arizona, published a simple price list of their legal services--so much for a simple will, some much for a traffic ticket under 4 points, so much for a traffic ticket over 4 points, so much for a DUI, so much for a name change, etc. The Arizona State Bar Association tried to stop the advertising, saying it was unprofessional. Ultimately, the US Supreme Court ruled that a) the law firm COULD advertise; & b) commercial speech was protected under the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.
