In the next screenshot, the same command, mmls.exe, was used to find out information about the partitions on the file harding-3.001 which is a complete forensic copy of the thumb drive that students will examine for the Final Project.

Both file extensions .dd and .001 are raw image files (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., and mmls.exe can be used with either file extension.

Yet, when mmls.exe is used with the harding-3.001 file, no partition output is generated.

The mmls.exe command is typed exactly the same way with both the diskimage.dd and harding-3.001 files, and both files are in the same place on the desktop.

The forensic copy named harding-3.001 is a complete evidence file of the original evidence that is not corrupt and not encrypted.

Why was no partition output generated for the harding-3.001 file?
