Discuss and Analyze Description A small company plans for the expansion of its intranet.
Currently, the company has a network on the first floor of its office building with 30 staff and one server. The company plans to add an additional network on another floor adding 15 staff. The company wants to connect this new expansion to the existing companys server. You need to build this what-if scenarios to ensure that the load added by the second network will not cause the network to fail.
Getting Started When designing a new network model, you must choose
1. Type of networking devices you need for your network such as workstation, switches, routers and servers.
2. Physical topology of the network- i.e. the way your devices physically are connected.
3. Logical topology of the network- i.e. the way your data (packets) travel from one end of your network to another end.
4. The links between devices- such as cables or wireless (in this case we use only cables) Tasks:
Use Visio to create the following scenarios:
Scenario 1 o Design a network model with 30 staff using a server. (In Visio)
Scenario 2 o Design a network model that expand the additional network. Additional network has 15 staff that connected to the existing companys server.
(In Visio) Deliverables: A well-structured report (word document) which must include:
1. A summary of the addressed topic and objectives of the Case study.
2. Description of network model including scenario diagrams (Visio)
a. Discuss the physical and logical topology- Explain your answer with justification
b. The connection between devices- Explain your answer with justification
c. Type of devices- Explain your answer with justification
3. Investigation and analysis of:
Will the server be able to handle the additional load of the second network?
Will the total delay across the network be acceptable once the second network is installed?
4. Base on your observation; recommend your choice of consideration to improve the network model.
