In this week's discussion we are to discuss a time where we had ineffective feedback from someone. In my experience, when I first started a position as an operation manager I was told that I had to scold someone for not making a deadline on a project. The project consisted of getting all the nurses that were employed to the office to get the compliance training taken care of. The operations specialist was only notified 8 hours prior to the deadline. Being new in the position I felt as if the lack of communication and leverage time was non durable. We worked with Visiting nurses and everyone was on a time crunch. I also felt as if there was a test to see if I was harsh enough for the position.being the new person something's you feel as if people are trying to make you or break you, and that's how I felt. I explained to my director that in order to be a effectiant establishment we need to properly plan ahead of time to make sure everyone can have the task done in a timely manner. That did not go well with her. For the next two weeks she would purposely refuse to train me on important job roles. Then when it came down to our weekly meeting with our area team I would always look like the weakest link, only if she knew it made her lose worse.
What I learned from this experience is how powerful being able to pick up your team because everyone's work has a ripple affect on your own work. I would of simply walked the new employee down a couple different routes, one for example would interfacing myself and the role I play in the company. Next example to the staff that there is a mandatory training that needs to be done in a reasonable time frame.lastly explain why it's important to get the training done to the staff.
