Background: The spreadsheet can serve as the basis of a what-if analyisis of alternative cross-selling activities involving emails and calls. When a 1 is put in a cell in one (and only one) of the columns D, E, F or G for a particular category in a row, the CLV will change. Hurbas and his collegues could then experiment with various activities for the categories. As combinations of activies are considered, the number of calls is shown in column I; the total is at the bottom of that column. It is possible to use the spreadsheet to explore the set of activities having a given total call that produces the greatest CLV. The budget was set to 100,000 AED, and had a maximum of 50,000 calls allowed.
