In your final paper, you will be "selling" your investments and reporting your results. The questions you will answer:
YOU WILL DO THIS FOR EACH COMPANY: TESLA, APPLE, DISNEYLAND, APPLE AND MICROSOFT
1. End of project total return and rate of return (formula calculation below)
2. Individual investment return and rate of return
3. Any major events that happened at each of the companies that may have affected their stock price
4. What did you learn from your project?
5. What would you do again or change?
Rate of return is the percentage return you received on your investment. It is used to measure how strong an investment was.
The formula to calculate rate of return is: ROR =(Gain/loss -: initial investment) x 100
Let's do an example. If I had chosen to invest in Disney for my project, this is what my return would look like:
DIS stock price on 11/3(date first paper was due): $85.07. I invested $20,000 per the assignment, so I purchased 235 shares, using $19,991.45. When I sold the shares today, I sold them for $92.58 per share, for a total of $21,756.30. My return on this investment is $1,764.85, which is my total today ($21,756.30) minus what I originally paid for the shares ($19,991.45). My rate of return would be $1,764.85(gain)-: $19,991.45(initial investment)=.0882. Multiply that x 100 to get the percentage and my ROR is 8.82%. Not bad for 6 weeks!
