The local theatre group needs help to design their database. To schedule performances (date), they want to keep track of the actors, plays, and directors. Actors perform in multiple plays, and are required to have an agent. Each play has a single director and at least one actor. If the plays are successful, we hire the Director for other plays. Directors, actors, and agents go through periods where they are not working.

For the FAA application modeling the following: All airlines are operational and employ at least one pilot. Airline pilots fly many flights; each flight has one pilot. Pilots work for only one airline and are required to take 2 months leave per year. All pilots report to a supervisor, who is also a pilot. There are many passengers on a flight, each identified by a passenger number - they take any number of flights. The flight informationincludesaflightnumber,thesourcecity,destinationcity,andflightdate. Flightsmaybe cancelled at any time for any reason. A passenger may also cancel their flight, but may incur a charge.

A customer rents many DVDs and the DVDs are rented by any customer. Some customers do not rent DVDs. Some DVDs are never rented by customers. Most DVDs in the store have several copies available for rent there is at least one copy. We need to keep track of each copy.

The DMV keeps tracks of owners and their vehicles. Owners can possess several vehicles; the vehicle is registered to one owner. The vehicles tracked are domestic (no commercial vehicles for this part of the application). The DMV is interested in vin#, make, model, year, color, and engine size. The length is also of interest for boats. Engine stroke and type (cruiser, chopper, off-road, etc.) are of interest for motorcycles.
