Individual Estimating

Your individual component is to use relative estimating (vs absolute estimating) to provide estimates in points, to clean the vehicles listed below, and enter your estimates in an Excel worksheet.

There must be 3-column Excel worksheet listing:

the vehicle to be washed by name only (e.g. "BMW Convertible", the number of points to clean the vehicle and a minimum 30 word count explanation on how we came up with your point estimate. Each explanation is to be unique for every vehicle.

Your starting point to base your estimate in points (your Reference User Story)is the 2-wheeled bicycle. Your team has washed bicycles many times and is calling the bicycle 5 points (this is an arbitrary number).

To wash the bike (the vehicle) means hand washing with a sponge all parts (except the tires, gears and chain) with soapy water, and then rinsing with the hose. The sponge is applied to each spoke and rim for example, but not the tires.

• Make a .xls file with 4 headers: Item, Estimate in Time, Detail and Poker Points
• First, you list the item (i.e. small 4 door car), Name of the Vehicle.
• Second, you estimate in real time the amount of minutes to clean the outside of the vehicle with just yourself cleaning it. (i.e. 30 mins), Your decision on number of points.
• Third, give some detail as to how you came up with the time listed under estimate in time (Small car with no unusual parts on the outside),Minimum 30 words for your estimate explaining how you came up with the estimate.
• Finally use the planning poker numbers to estimate using a comparison to the first car

Note: List of items to include:

4 Door sedan is our first vehicle to estimate, we compare it with our reference user story (Bicycle), then Humvee, Radio-Flyer-Tricycle, Mini car, Limo, Camper Van, Truck, Ferrari race car, BMW Convertible and Airplane.
