The main purpose of this video is to communicate that a greater focus needs to be placed on the \"missing 33%\" (Colantuono, 2013), of a 3-part leadership model discussed. Also, how this 33% differs for men and women in the workplace and steps that can be taken to increase the likelihood of succeeding as a leader for both women and businesses'. Additionally, the purpose of the video is to showcase where and when women can take that missing piece and implement it. The key question that the speaker is addressing is \"why are there so many women mired in the middle, and what has to take them to the top?\" (Colantuono, 2013). The statistics show that 50% of middle managers are women, but only a third of that number go on to senior level management. The most important information in this video is as follows. First, we are introduced to the 3-part leadership model that Colantuono (2013) discusses. It says, \"use the greatness in you...to achieve and sustain extraordinary outcomes...to engage the greatness in others.\" Colantunono (2013) goes on to say that although all three of these parts are important, in order to succeed as a leader in your organization, the most important part is the \"to achieve and sustain extraordinary outcomes.\" Breaking the part down further, Colantunono says that the skills in this part are characterized as \"business, strategic, financial acumen\" (2013).
