  1. Hi, my name is Erika. I'm originally from Chula Vista, California, but I've lived in Vegas most of my life. I also lived a small part of my life in Wenatchee, Washington. I love watching movies and shows. I currently work full time as a medical assistant. I've been in the medical field for 7 years now. I have three siblings, and one of them is actually in school with me. For my career goal, I plan to work in trauma or be a travel nurse. But first, I would like to start in urgent care to get a taste of everything. I believe that in my current profession as a medical assistant, chemistry is necessary since, although we are not the prescribers for medication, it's still important for us to have some knowledge of drug interactions. Since in our role, it's important for us to clarify what medications the patient is taking before they are seen by the provider. One thing I know about chemistry is that it's important to our daily lives as well as forensic science. Therefore, in order to solve a crime, DNA or any other substance found at the scene can help determine how the crime occurred and by whom.

  1. Hello everyone. My name is Victor and I currently work as an Office Manager/ Lead Medical assistant for 1 of 3 Pediatric Gastroenterologist doctors in Las Vegas. Prior to this, I worked as a medical assistant at a Podiatrist and Wound Care clinic. Prior to entering the medical field, I did the exact opposite as a United States Marine in the Infantry. The only hobby I have currently is competitive shooting. If I am not at work or school, You can find me at my gun range. Chemistry is a very important aspect of the medical field, everyone is made up of elements, and it is important to know and understand the difference between the elements, and what they do for the human body. Often times with testing of the blood they utilize certain elements for certain tests in order to derive the specific portion of the blood that they are trying to test. To be honest, I didn't retain much of my previous chemistry course, but I am more about fun chemistry facts/ tidbits of knowledge.
