To aid the handicapped person in their daily activities which often require a way to move things from one place to another, there are many basket of various designs available on the market. Each design may be limited to certain needs and none of the designs covers all the needs and satisfy all people on wheel chairs.

It is difficult for handicapped persons, confined to a wheelchair, to shop for groceries (or any similar activities such carrying boxes or school needs) because they are normally limited by the means available. Some handicapped persons carry their staff on their lap or a box for the grocery items. Some handicapped people do not have the luxury of a help person, nor do they want a help person, but they still have a need to function independently.

Project statement:

The broad purpose of project is to provide a front mounted basket for a wheelchair which the user can easily remove and mount on the wheelchair without using an outside help. The basket must be light and foldable. It can easily be removable and mountable. It can be used for grocery shopping, for carrying basic school items and having a top or bottom side that can be used as food tray in restaurant.

The basket is required to be simple to use and inexpensive (cost not to exceed AED 180) compared to the market available products. The basket must be long term reusable whose material has to be recyclable and eco-friendly.
