Champter 5. Problems and Solutions in Modern Policing

Police shootings (civilians being killed by officers) and police officers killed in the line of duty? Seems to be in the news every day and depending on where you get your news, there seems to be conflicting data. I thought I give you some information from two of the more reliable sources- the Guardian and the FBI (been taking a beating from certain folks but generally still considered a reliable source).

From these sources (no not from your crazy Uncle Bill) answer the following-

1. According to the Guardian link. Since 2018 (when we started seriously tracking these events) how many civilians in the US are killed by police officers each year? Just give me that count, do not give me a year by year breakdown. This might require that you do some math.

2. According to the Guardian report, from 2013 to 2022 how many times more likely are black residents likely to be killed by police than white residents?

3. According to the Guardian report, in 2022 what percentage of cases were there was no crime alleged?

4. According to the FBI LEOKA report, scroll down on that site until you see the graphic under- "National Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted Infographic", how many officers died from injuries incurred in the line of duty during felonious incidents in 2022? 5. According to the FBI LEOKA report, in the first eight months of 2023 what was the most numerous way the officers were killed in felonious killings?

6. According to the FBI LEOKA report, in the first eight months of 2023 how many officers were wearing body armor in felonious killings?
