Investigations, by nature, face potential pitfalls that can impede an investigation, put the investigators and their department in a negative light, and subject the organization and the investigator personally to civil, criminal, and/or administrative penalties. A paper on pitfall topic: privacy. At a minimum the paper must include the following: 1. The utilization and citation of a minimum of one source excluding the texts or other readings used in the class with proper Turabian and UCOL citations. No source can be used more than once per quarter for this assignment. You are free to use the source as much as you deem appropriate in discussion posts and other assignments for this class. 2. Your paper should be written through an investigative lens. Do not just recite the laws or regulations. Associate them with the investigative process. 3. An explanation of how the risk from this pitfall can be mitigated. 4. A conclusion. 5. Recent court cases in which a matter involving one of these pitfalls was adjudicated. Recently, within the past 24 months. 6. Examples of how this pitfall has created a problem for an organization. 7. Add references.
