It is essential to look at project management techniques and how they can drive the organization overall. There are a lot of different project management methodologies, but finding the one that is correct for the project you are working on can make or break the project. Waterfall is a method that is used. The waterfall is a model that looks at the different stages of a project to see how it can be and flow into the various stages or phases. In the Waterfall method, you want to ensure you completed that step you are on before continuing to the next one. The stages of the Waterfall method are as follows: requirements, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance. Using these steps helps to make the project flow. (12 Project Management Methodologies: Your Guide, n.d.) The second method is Agile Methodology. This is when the project is repeated in as many steps as needed to ensure the project is correct. The Agile Manifesto was created to ensure that it was keeping up with how quickly technology was changing. The four values of this Agile project management methodology are Individuals and interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation, and responding to change over following a plan. Using these methods keeps the project on its toes to change and move as needed and as quickly as possible. (12 Project Management Methodologies: Your Guide, n.d.) I believe the waterfall method would work better in a healthcare setting. This method follows steps, processes, and procedures that I think would be easy to work within a hospital organization. The Agile methodology is really fast-paced and changes constantly. When I work on projects at my job now, I can not imagine having to move and shift everything constantly to make something work faster. So many departments work on specific projects together, so keeping everyone in the loop with this method would seem taxing and exhausting. I would feel differently if it was a smaller practice where many different people were not involved.
