It is intended to design a heat exchanger for the crude oil with the following design specifications
\table[[Fluid,Crude Oil,City Water],[Inlet temperature C,102,21],[Outlet Temperature,65,-],[Total Mass Flowrate kgs,65,45],[\table[[Maximum Pressure],[Losses Pa]],Shell side 60000,Tube side 45000]]
A shell and tube heat exchanger with possible of 2 for 4 tube passes shall be considered. The shell diameter ID is considered to be 36 inches with baffle spacing of 275 mm . Tubes are 34" OD 18 BWG (Birmingham Wire Gage of tube with their specifications shall be considered). Calculations shall include overall heat exchanges length for both clean and fouled surfaces as well as Tube side velocity for both 1-2 and 1-4 arrangements, Overall heat transfer coefficients for clean and fouled surfaces. Pressure drops, pumping power necessary. Allowable maximum pressure drops are as given, 60 kPa and 45 kPa on shell side and tube side respectively.
