by Julie, which had a price tag of $5,000. Jerry approaches Julie and
tells her that he cannot accept her offer of $5,000 on the price tag but
he can take the bookshelf for $3,000. Julie says "that isn't possible but
how about $4,500?" Jerry says "no, how about $4,000?" Julie says "no,
if you don't like my prices you are free to shop somewhere else" to
which Jerry replies that he will accept but Julie's price of $4,500. Julie
does not reply but turns to serve another customer, as Jerry steps
away from the counter to take a call on his mobile phone.
Following his telephone call, Jerry turns back to Julie to pay for the
bookcase but Julie says she has already sold it to Katherine for $5,000.
Jerry is furious and says that he and Julie had a contract and that the
bookcase was his. Advise Jerry and Julie giving reasons for your
answer.
