Authorities long suspected him of wrongdoing, and he was questioned on numerous occasions by police and FBI agents, but he was never charged with any erime. He paid his law school tuition through money earned while he was engaged in his unlawful activities. In addition, for the past several years, Lydon has been an active member of a Russian white supremacist organization known as the Russian Imperial Movement ("RIM"). The organization, which has been banned in Russia and is considered to be a terrorist group by the United States Department of State, provides training and financial support to those who want to carry out acts of repression and violence against migrant communities in Westem Europe. Several weeks after submitting his application, the Blackacre Character and Fitness Committee notifed Lydon that the Committee members wanted to meet with him in a remote session to discuss his application. in response, Lydon consulted with a lawyer named Paul Cook. Lydon provided Cook with a comprehensive and accurate history of Lydon 's background and told the lawyer that he wanted to hire him for the limited purpose of joining him in the meeting with the Character and Fitness Committee. Lydon told the lawyer that he would pay a $5,000 fee. Lydon told the lawyer, "I don't want you to speak at the session. 1 will answer any questions. The Conmittee will think that I am treating the process seriously if I just have an attomey. Wear a white shirt and a dull tie." Cook agrees to represent Lydon under the stated terms.
