Journal Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love

Sternberg theorizes we have three values that we prioritize in our romantic relationships; Intimacy, Passion, Commitment. To find out how you prioritize these values complete the Triangular Love Scale. The measure is more accurate if you picture a specific person and relationship. This can be a current or past relationship. The scale is attached to the D2L assignment link.

See the Understanding Love tab and review Your Love Profile and Love Stories. It is important to know that your individual scores only tell you what you need and want from a relationship. There is not a better score or wrong answer. Also, we have a greater sense of well being in a relationship when our scores are closely matched with our partner's.

1. Give an example of one love story you have experienced or witnessed. This can be one from your past, a friend's or a family members' relationship.
2. Reflect on your scores. Do you think they describe you?
3. In 2-3 paragraphs, describe how this new information might explain your previous or current relationships.
