CASE STUDY: Information Technology Issues at Cuatro Pty (Ltd) The regulation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) usage is a crucial part of all organisations. ICT usage within an organisation should ideally be regulated by ensuring that there is an effective and updated ICT usage policy in place at the organisation. Mr Trotsky Linksy is currently employed as the Information Technology (IT) Manager at a thriving internationally recognised firm, named Cuatro Pty (Ltd) which is situated in the green and verdant suburb of Ariana Ville. He has been employed as the IT Manager at Cuatro Pty (Ltd) for a period of one month and is fairly new at the organisation. Cuatro Pty (Ltd) currently has fifty one employees and finds itself growing rapidly. Mr Linksy had been previously employed at Katrin Solutions (Pty) Ltd, in a similar post for a period of eleven years. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce in Information and Technology Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology Law. Mr Linksy has proven experience as an IT Manager and excellent knowledge of technical management and information analysis. Further, he is highly skilled with regards to data management, data governance and the managing of personnel. Some of his key duties at Cuatro Pty (Ltd) include the following: Managing all Information and Communications Technology systems; Planning, controlling and overseeing all IT related and electronic data operations; Managing and training all IT employees; Designing, developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to ICT usage within Cuatro Pty (Ltd); Identifying of problematic areas and implementing strategic solutions in order to solve problems arising within the organisation; Ensuring security of data and network access; and Ensuring that all employees including himself are adhering to all policies and regulations at Cuatro (Pty) Ltd. Recently, Mr Linksy has been concerned with a number of issues relating to ICT usage and the ICT Division at Cuatro (Pty) Ltd. It has been brought to his attention that a number of employees have been sharing usernames and passwords at Cuatro Pty (Ltd) and he has further noticed that there is very poor performance of the ICT division in this regard.
