Kroger, the largest US grocery store chain, is the holding company of Ralphs, the grocery store whose service areas include southern California. Over the years, Kroger has developed the program of Kroger Plus card fuel points by establishing gas stations outside some of its grocery stores. Customers of Kroger can use their Kroger Plus card to accumulate fuel points whenever they spend at Kroger stores. For every one hundred dollars a customer spends at Kroger stores, the customer with a Kroger Plus card gets at least-100 fuel points. Every 100 fuel points provide the customer a 50.1/galion discount if the customer fill the tank of his/her car at the Kroger gas station. Because this program has been successful, Kroger is evaluating whether it should establish gas stations outside the Ralphs stores. Ralphs has hired Victor Hugo of UC Riverside to investigate this issue. Victor Hugo has made the following remarks to the Kroger management. Do you agree or disagree with his logic and arguments? Ralphs needs to raise its price of gas to-cover its cost of the program of Kroger Plus fuel points. For example, if a customer spends $100 at the Ralphs stores, he/she can get $0.1/gallon discount for gas. If the customer purchases 20 gallons of gas, then Ralphs loses revenue of $2. True False
