Revisit your scores from the Big 5 personality inventory. Considering what you now know about traits that are associated with leadership effectiveness, answer the following questions.

1.Pick two traits associated with leadership effectiveness for which you are not operating near your ceiling/basement. How can you improve on these traits?

2.Imagine that you were leading a direct report who lacked surgency (extraversion), but that direct report had high potential and lots of knowledge. What are three ways you could coach that direct report to operate closer to his/her ceiling?

3.Imagine you have a direct report who was rather neurotic. This direct report knows they act this way, and tries mightily to keep their emotionality under control. As a leader, do you think it is ethical to act biased toward this direct report who is displaying a personality trait that is not conducive toward their own leadership effectiveness? Or should that direct report be allowed to simply be as they are?

4. Despite the benefits, what are the negatives of displaying relentless positivity as a leader? If you feel there are no negatives, why not?
