Many organizations now consider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a strategic tool for improving their competitiveness in the market environment. A survey conducted by Accenture and United Nations Global Compact (UNGC, 2020) showed that 93 percent of the 766 participating CEOs declared CSR as being essential to their organizations' future success, since CSR was found to have led to reduced employee turnover, the retention of skilled and motivated employees and others. Although it is undeniable that SMEs' contribution play an important role in Malaysia's economic growth, there are however, no reports conducted on the CSR engagement of the Small and Medium Enterprises since most of the studies only described the lower likelihood of SMEs being involved in CSR activities compared to MNC firms. The SME Corp Malaysia has commissioned you to carry out a research project to identify why the owners of SMEs firms have less intention to engage in CSR activities and what is the impact to the firm's behaviour. It is hoped that this research can pinpoint factors influencing SME's intention in engaging in CSR activities. The results can serve as a valuable guide to development of CSR policies for SMEs. You have chosen "SME's intention in engaging in CSR activities" as the dependent variable.
