Many people feel that there are not enough hours in the day, and they never seem to get around to all the things they plan to do. They think they will find time in the future, but as more and more things are put off, some are never even started, let alone completed. If this sounds like you, use the following time management tool to help you set your priorities and budget your time.
Step 1: Establish Priorities
Rank each priority that applies to you in the list below. Use 1 for the highest priority, 2 for the second-highest, and so on. You may add priorities as necessary.
Priority Rank Priority Rank

Step 2: Monitor Your Current Time Use

Step 3: Analyze Your Current Time Use
- During which activities did you use stress-reduction techniques? Did they help? Why or Why not?
- In which activity did you spend the most time? The last time? For example, did you watch TV for 3 hours? Did you spend 10 minutes on exercise?
- Did the amount of time you spent on these activities reflect the priorities you indicated earlier? Why or Why not?
- Which activities will you spend less time in? Which will require increased time?
- During which hours can you spend time doing activities that are important to you? How can you replace current activities with those on your prioritized list?
- Based on your priorities, what changes will you make in your daily schedule?
Step 4: Make A Schedule
Write in your planned activities for the next day, and try to stick to this schedule as much as possible.
