Many routes exist to make ethanol (ETOHH2C2H5OH), but Catharine and Patrick are investigating a much faster route than fermentation. Starting with a gas mixture of ethylene (E,C2H4) and water (W, H2O ) at 305C, ethanol is produced in by the balanced reaction: 1C2H4+1H2O1C2H5OH. However, ethanol also decomposes by the unbalanced reaction: C2H5OH(C2H5)2O+H2O. Flowing into the reactor are 299mol/hr ethylene and 406mol/hr water. The reactor produces diethyl ether (DE1(C2H5)2O) at 29.8mol/hr when the yield of ethanol (moles ethanol produced/mole ethylene consumed) is 0.731. Determine some unknown component molar flow rates. n2,E=n2,W=n2,ETOH=mol/hrmol/hrmol/hr
