Throughout this course, you will work together as a team to complete a project using the AMPS model. Your team has taken on the role of the analyst hired to provide recommendations to a local real estate agency, Omaha Advisers. Omaha Advisers sent the attached mailer Download mailerto their mailing list, including clients and prospective clients. They received feedback from a few recipients that the CMA Summary Report was overwhelming and hard to read. Omaha Advisors has contracted you to design a new mailer that communicates in a simpler format. Omaha Advisers has provided a CMA report Download CMA reportand Data Dictionary Download Data Dictionary. The project culminates in Module 10 when the mailer will be presented as part of your group presentation.

Rather than completing all of the project during Module 10, you will be working on it throughout the quarter through Group Discussions in Modules 4, 6, and 8. While you will not be able to complete this project based solely on these discussions, this is a great place to begin communicating and building your team dynamic. You may use other means of communication (e.g. Zoom, Google Hangout, Facetime, in person, or email). However, you must participate in these discussions to capture and document your work on this phase of the project.

In Module 4, you will introduce yourself to your team and review the requirements of the group project.

In Module 6, you will reflect on the real estate industry and the purpose of direct mailers.

In Module 8, you will identify the specific questions you are asking and brainstorm how the data from the CMA Report Omaha Advisers provided can be utilized to address those questions.

In Module 10, you will perform your analysis and prepare a mailer to share the story. Additionally, you will present your findings in a virtual presentation.

Throughout the course, you will need to communicate with your teammates in order to develop an understanding of each others skillsets, plan and organize the work for the project, and communicate your progress to the group. Everyone needs to contribute and communicate. In Module 10, the group will complete a check-in activity in the discussion forum to assess the groups effectiveness and discuss strengths and areas for improvement. Then, each team member will complete a peer evaluation that will be utilized by your instructor when assigning grades for the project.

This week reflect on the real estate industry and the purpose of direct mailers.

  1. Background Overview: Describe key factors that affect the real estate industry. Consider current events affecting the industry that might give rise to questions that could be addressed in your mailer. Utilize the resources at the library to learn about the industry. First Research Download First Researchwould be a good place to begin to develop a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis.
  2. Your Role and Motivation: What is the purpose of direct mailers? What is the big picture problem you are trying to address or solve with Data Analytics? Why is addressing this issue important to Omaha Advisers?

You may use other means of communication as agreed upon by the team. However, you must participate in this discussion to capture and document your work on this phase of the project.
