Motivation is necessary to task completion. Organizations that find ways to successfully motivate, or find motivated employees, have an advantage over those that do not. The difficulty with motivation is that it is not always easy to increase in an employee that just is not motivated. Think of Dave. Dave is an IT computer programmer, and he just recently has been missing his deadlines for projects. When asked about it, he says he is trying, but he just does not have the same interest/motivation that he used to.
