MRP works backward to benefit many businesses, whereas synchronous manufacturing works forward to benefit many businesses. Additionally, MRP's capacity resource planning module generates capacity consumption profiles of work centers (Jacobs & Chase, 2020).When work centers are overloaded, either the master production schedule has to be altered, or enough capacity needs to be left unscheduled in the system, to smooth out the work at the local level. Since, MRP schedule loses its validity just a few days after it is generated this is important to keep in mind when planning.
