Ms. Mokoena has been conducting some research on natural hair treatment products. During the current financial year, she managed to develop a formula for a natural hair shampoo that washes hair without causing any damage to the scalp. Ms. Mokoena managed to trademark the formula, meaning no other person can use the formula without the approval of Ms. Mokoena. The formula will be used to create an in-house natural hair shampoo that will be sold directly to the public from her store in Braamfontein and through Moko Beauty online store. The costs incurred in developing the formula amounted to R250 000. Ms Mokoena is unsure how these costs should be classified in the financial statements of Moko Beauty for the financial year ended 28 February 2023
