On March 1, 2022, she relocated the 250 kilometers to Pictou and immediately began working for BG. BG paid for all Ms. Zhou's moving expenses. This moving benefit is non-taxable. The compensation package offered to Ms. Zhou included a salary of $118,500 per year, a one-time bonus of $12,000 (half to be paid on March 1, 2022, and the other half to be paid on January 1, 2023) and employee stock options to purchase 2,000 shares of the company for $9 per share, as well as other benefits. The stock options and benefits package are available to all employees. The fair market value of the shares on the date of the offer was $9 per share. Ms. Zhou is expected to regularly meet with clients in her home to review landscaping designs that she generates on her computer. Since she would like to maintain a certain level of privacy for her clients, she decided to purchase a home instead of renting an apartment. Since she had not yet sold her old home in Lower Cove, NS, the company decided to provide her with a ten-year, interest free loan to cover the down payment of $60,000 on her new home. Her actual expenses were as follows: 2. BG contributed $3,500 to the company RPP on behalf of Ms. Zhou. 3. During the period March 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, Ms. Zhou earned a salary of $98,750. She has not yet sold her shares and intends to hold them for at least two years. 7. Ms. Zhou paid $600 in professional dues in 2022 . The company does not reimburse its employees for their professional dues. 8. BG paid Ms. Zhou a monthly allowance of $300 for ten months in 2022 to cover the costs of maintaining workspace in her home. Ms. Zhou used her home workspace from March 1 to December 31, 2022. The workspace occupies 200 square feet of her 2,000 square foot home. The costs associated with her home and various home office expenses include: 9. Ms. Zhou was provided with an automobile that cost $50,000 (HST included). The vehicle was available to her for the entire ten months she was employed with BG in 2022. During this period, she drove a total of 20,000 kilometers, 6,000km were related to personal use of the vehicle. BG pays all operating and maintenance costs related to this vehicle.
