Mulusi works as a miner at Kabo Minerals. He is passionate about improving the working and living conditions of the miners and this is why he joined the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) and serves as a shop steward. He recently applied for a supervisor position but was told that he would only be considered if he gave up his trade union membership as supervisors are not permitted to be trade union members, participate in trade union activities or serve as trade union representatives.
