My problem statement was how childcare issues hindered employment during COVID-19. I did not have a purpose statement, but my work does show a correlation between childcare issues and shifts in the labor market. The research showed that Blacks and Hispanics were disproportionately affected by COVID-19, but combined with gender, it created an even more significant impact (Navar et al., 2021). The study combined quantitative and qualitative but leaned more towards qualitative. I also needed to have a research question or hypothesis during this assignment.

Now that I know the problem statement, purpose statement, theoretical framework, research questions, and hypothesis, I can better understand how to align the components. With alignment, you ensure that the language is the same, the verb tense is the same, and the terminology matches it all must be the same. Because there was no research question, we had no hypothesis if there were a hypothesis, it would be formatted in APA style(Walden Dissertation Editors, n.d.).

For the chart inserted, I will explain how it pertains to the problem statement. The information presented shows by race, gender, education, and marital status how the employment rate affected parents and nonparents. Even with a college degree, women had a lower employment level than their male counterparts. Adding children to that factor made the employment situation worse. Trends show significant relationships and variables' differences (Saunders et al., 2020). I would have pulled more financial data to show the disparities in pay between males and females performing the same jobs. Drilling down to the heart of why this practice is still happening.
