Please further elaborate or provide me some much needed insight on this matter??

GAINING UNDERSTANDING THROUGH PEACEMAKING There are many good reasons for a book like this, but one of the most important is peacemaking (Mt 5:9). The Christian counseling community has been experiencing something like a "Forty Years' War," in which vari- ous factions have alternately criticized, denounced and ignored one an- other, each firmly convinced that its approach is the only valid one. I hope that the readers of this book will have sufficient reasons to be conscientious objectors in this conflict, will challenge a warfare mentality when they encounter it, and will themselves work hard to respect, listen to, learn from and share with, as they have opportunity, their Christian brothers and sisters in psychology and counseling who hold different positions than they do. I am grateful to the contributors of this book for modeling so well peacemaking dialogue. All Christians want to realize God's will within the spheres of their callings. In the sciences, that will always entail drawing near to Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:3). As Jonathan Edwards (1980) suggested, "All the arts and sciences, the more they are perfected, the more they issue in divinity, and coincide with it, and appear to be as parts of it" (p. 397). For the Christian, the science of psychology and the art of counseling are fundamentally religious enter- prises, as is all of life. May God be pleased with our dialogue, conduct and journey together toward him in the field of psychology and the practice of counseling.
