Trevor Aylor
Hello class, My name is Trevor, and I'm from Oklahoma. Like most of you in this course, I'm an information technology major nearing the end of my degree program, and I'm excited to be so close to graduating. I'm interested in the impacts that systems have on an organization because it looks at the significance of technology and how critical it is to everyday business functions and success.
For my self-definition, I would define a system as a set of processes that operate independently but are all necessary for the overall success of a much larger entity, whether a technology process or a business. For a real-life example of a system, the store I work at, Walmart, comes to mind.
Walmart consists of several departments across the entire store that sell a variety of products, whether that be groceries, baked goods, electronics, automotive services, or sporting goods, to name a few. All of these departments operate independently from one another and are not directly dependent on each other, but are each essential for Walmart's overall success as a business. If any of these departments were to be closed or unable to operate, it would impact the store's profitability and functionality by a significant amount and attract fewer people to shop at the store.
