For the initial stages of development for the marketing plan and before the park's
reopening, a focus group should be formed and studied. New advertisements that incorporate
information about our efforts to improve ride safety should be shown. The reactions of the focus
group's members should be studied with discussions held to understand their opinions on what
they saw. The biggest question here is whether the focus on safety portrayed in the ads works to
reassure and attracts customers back, or, conversely, does it have an adverse effect because it
reminds viewers of the accident and conveys a message that sometimes rides such as ours aren't
safe and accident can happen. This feedback could be used to determine whether the focus on
safety improvements in the ads should be left as is, scaled back in favor of more imagery of fun
and excitement, or ramped up.
We should also conduct consumer research at the time of, and after the park reopens to
tweak the marketing campaign as needed for maximizing its effect so we continue to attract more
business. Being that most admission tickets to our park are digitally purchased and require an
email and/or phone number, we should take advantage of our wealth of customer contact
information. In accordance with the date of entrance recorded upon admission ticket scanning
and the email or phone number attached, our computer system (for simplicity's sake) should be
programmed to generate and deliver an electronic message vie text or email to each visitor oneday after their visit which contains a brief survey inquiring about their impression of the park's reopening, their feelings of safety during their visit, what attracted them to the park for the
reopening, and if it was because of our reopening advertising; what aspect of the ad was most
attractive and which part wasn't. We can use this to either make our safety protocols at the park
more-or-less visible and shift the focus in our ads if the feedback calls for it.
