New York City has enacted a law to ban or limit trans fats in foods.  There is little doubt that excessive trans fats are detrimental to consumer health and also little doubt that many consumers want such food anyway.  Is this a proper role for government or is it an example of too much government meddling in the business world?  How is this different or similar to laws regarding cigarettes, alcohol, and childhood immunizations?
