On the 11th of March 2020, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO's Director-General, announced that COVID-19, that was first reported in China, could be characterized as a pandemic. This was due to the rapid increase in the number of cases outside China that affected a large number of countries in a very globally, short time. Subsequently, a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were hastily adopted as part of containment and mitigation of the disease.
