Write the Project Charter. This is an important document needed to give authority to you, the Project Manager, to move forward with planning and use of organizational resources in this endeavor.

Select a Project Charter format to use from an organization where a member of your learning team works. Compare the format to the elements of a Project Charter outlined in Part 1, Section 4.1.3.1 of the PMBOK.

Note. If you cannot locate a format to use between your learning team members, search for a format online or develop one of your own based on the elements outlined in Part 1, Section 4.1.3.1 of the PMBOK.

Refer to the rubric provided. Each of the sections of the Charter will be evaluated for completeness and quality (i.e., realistic content) as it relates to your project.

Consider how you might approach getting your organization to revise their Project Charter format to ensure it meets PMBOK minimum best practices.
