Open Colleges Scenario Meet Paula. Paula is a woman in her 50's who has recently started seeking the support of CareShore. Paula is divorced and the mother of four adult children. Paula's main motivation is that recently she had trouble sleeping, and she is sometimes worried about going to sleep because she has had bad nightmares. Paula also says that she is feeling very "low", which she sees as a result of her not sleeping well. Paula is on prescribed sleeping medication but she now only takes her pills when she is overly exhausted, requiring more than the usual dose to get to sleep. Paula says that she has had recurring nightmares ever since her childhood but their frequency and intensity seem to have increased since her youngest daughter left home a couple of months ago. When you meet Paula for the first time you notice that Paula seems to be very detached and hardly shows any emotions, even when speaking about the nightmares she is experiencing. You do however notice that Paula is chewing her finger nails, and the edges of her nails are bloody and tom. She also seems to find it hard to focus on you for more than a couple of seconds as she constantly looks around the room and is distracted by noises from the street and from outside the room. Before leaving the service you also notice that there is a smell of alcohol emanating from Paula.
