Overview For this exercise you will use the Interactive "Transformation of Functions" figure in the MLP Multimedia Library to create the graph of the following Absolute Value function: To view the interactive figures used in MyMathLab you will need to go to www.wolfram.com/cdf-player and first download, then install the free CDF player. This is a two-step process, so note where the installation file is downloaded to and then execute the installation program. In the PC environment you will need the current versions of the Java Runtime Environment, found at http://www.java.com/en, Macromedia Flash, found at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer.html, and Quicktime, found at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/.\" y = (3.4) | (0.7)(x - 4) | + 1 1. Screen snap the entire figure, including the sliders. You will not be able to match exact values shown here on the sliders, but try to get as close as possible. 2. Explain how the movement of each slider used in your Interactive Figure alters the blue graph from its starting position. 3. Paste the screen snap into a PDF document (MS Word has the option to save as PDF) and place it in the Dropbox with your name as the title. 4. When you finish, the graph part of your screenshot should look similar to this: (Remember your snap will show the sliders and the material above the graph). 5. Find or create a real life example in which you transform a basic function to model a real life phenomenon. What is your original function? What is your transformed function? Why was the transformation necessary? Check here to see the learning objectives addressed in this assignment
