Papers must be 8-10 pages in length, 12 point font, double-spaced The LDP allows you to integrate the theories examined, and apply the tools from the course to: 1. Examine the role of leadership of a SUPERVISOR in any major industry. Assume you aspire to become qualified to obtain a position of SUPERVISOR 1. Values. What values are most central and critical to how you approach work as a supervisor? 2. What values do you want to be known for practicing (not just preaching)? 3. Leadership legacy. What do you want to be your leadership legacy to others? What do you want others to say about your leadership after you've left your current role as supervisor after a few years and become a manager? What lasting impact do you want to have-not just on the organization but also on the people around you? 4. Career aspirations. What kind of role would you like to have 5 or 10 years from now? Describe the critical elements of what for you would be an ideal opportunity for leadership. 2. Consider contemporary leadership writings with classical leadership theory to determine their applicability and effectiveness in becoming a great supervisor. Assess the implications of current leadership trends on your leadership development 3. Consider and reflect on the personal assessment survey's (reference to their indications of 4. your characteristics). (Do not just cut and paste your assessments, but rather incorporate the resulting learning from each assessment into your paper.) 5. Benchmark your current leadership skills and behaviors against recognized leaders in business and industry. 6. Reflect on your personal skill sets with the aim of generating key insights needed to guide your self-development plan as you progress to your next position of Supervisor. Include the following elements: 1. Lifeline Exercise: Draw a line across a sheet of paper, representing the timeline of your life up to the present. Then mark on this line key turning points in your life-achievements, setbacks, milestones, instances of self- discovery. Relate the importance of these defining moments as a tool for uncovering some of the unrecognized lessons of your life. 2. SWOT Analysis: Complete a SWOT analysis to describe accurately your current leadership ability and to identify future potential. Reference your assessment learnings. 7. Develop a specific action plan. What are your priorities for personal growth? What are those things that you will concentrate on, day in and day out, in order to become a better leader? Based on the foregoing analysis, establish a list of no more than five personal development priorities together with specific actions and a method for assessing your progress to enhance strengths, overcome weaknesses, pursue potential, and mitigate risks. 8. Align your inner self with your leadership philosophy. The task here is to align your sense of self and core beliefs with how you intend to lead your organization. One tool you need to create in this process is a personal Leadership Credo-a succinct statement of the beliefs and principles that will drive your success as a leader. It should provide compelling responses to the following question: What do I stand for as a leader?
